The John Harris/Simon Cameron Mansion houses the Historical Society of Dauphin. Built by John Harris in the 1700s, then majestically renovated by Secretary of War Simon Cameron a century later, it is a showcase of Victorian splendor, replete with period furnishings, artworks, and other valuable artifacts. It lies downtown, on the east side of the river, next to Harrisburg Hospital.
